About the project
This staircase was designed for a newly built home in Île-Perrot — positioned as the architectural focal point of the main floor. The brief was simple: a staircase that changes how the space feels the moment you walk in.
A steel central stringer runs through the spine of the stair, allowing solid white oak treads to cantilever outward on both sides without visible support. Open risers throughout. Tempered glass guardrails on stand-offs maintain sightlines without interrupting the structure. LED strips recessed under each tread add depth after dark without disturbing the minimal daytime profile.
The tread finish was matched precisely to the client's new hardwood flooring — same species, same stain, same topcoat applied in the same conditions. Floor and stair read as one continuous material throughout the home.
