About the project
A loft on Rue Saint-Antoine with genuine ceiling height and a growing family who needed more space without leaving a home they loved. The solution was already in the room — it just needed to be built.
We designed and constructed a structural steel mezzanine within the existing volume, adding a full level of usable space without touching the exterior or changing the condo's footprint. The steel frame was engineered as lightly as possible visually — the goal was to add a floor without making the space feel compressed.
A compact staircase provides access to the mezzanine, positioned carefully to preserve the flow of the main living area. Open guardrails maintain the visual connection between levels. The kitchen cabinetry was reconfigured to fit the new circulation. The loft stayed bright, modern, and open — it just became larger.
